Jack's Bedroom Makeover

Jack has been dying to get his room redone since we started Madie's room.  He chose Super Heroes because he liked that they had wall stickers to go along with the theme.  A couple of weeks ago, Drew decided to take the kids to Kings Island.  Since I had a conference on the first day, I ended up with a couple of days by myself.  I thought that this would be the perfect time to surprise Jack with a cleaned up, big kid room.

Here are a few shots of his room.  His room is pretty small, so there wasn't much to work with.  Of course, he has bunk beds, so he was able to get two new comforters.  Spiderman and Green Lantern weren't my first choice, but that's what they had so I went with it.  What do you think?

His bed(s)  I'm in search of a small green pillow for the top bunk to even out the look.

Awesome curtains made by Grandma--yes, she's the best Grandma ever!!!

Corner of room.  I rearranged the storage boxes and bought some colored boxes .  We're in conversation  trying to decide what to do with all of the stuffed animals.  I just like the wall of Super Heroes.

Brand new dresser (just picked it up yesterday!).  He loves the poster.  I do too, since it covers the holes in the wall I made tearing down the last wall decorations.  Yep, those are nutcrackers--he loves them and had to have them in his room.  I get to "borrow" them to decorate with during Christmas.

Last view, shows off the second curtain and his bookshelf.
I still need some hooks for hats.  They are currently hung on screws in the wall from the last hooks.
If you see any, let me know!  I'm still hunting :0)

Colorful Clipboard

My sister-in-law asked if I could help decorate a clipboard for my niece for school.  I really like using Mod Podge to attach scrapbook paper to notebooks and clipboards, but usually I use just one color.  For my niece's clipboard, I thought I'd have a little fun with it.  Of course...Madie now wants one too!

*Clipboard.  The ones that are like chipboard work best.  I tried a plastic one and the paper didn't stick very well.
*Scrapbook paper--assortment that fit your clipboard's theme
*Mod Podge & Foam brush
*Scissors or paper cutter
*Ribbons (I also used a lighter to seal the ends of the ribbons to prevent fraying)

The front of the board.  I tried to keep it relatively simple so there weren't too many "bumps" that would be a pain when writing on it.  I just used the Mod Podge on the board and then placed the paper on top of it.  When I put the Mod Podge on top of the paper, it tended to bubble.  I then attached small pieces of ribbon to the top just by knotting them around the thing on the top.

This is the back of the board.  I thought it would be fun to include her name.  I cut the letters out on my Cricut.  I also used Mod Podge across the top of her name section so that the small pieces wouldn't come off the board easily.  I figured they may get picked off otherwise.

What do you think?

Madie's Updated Room :0)

Last Christmas time I decided it was time to start working on Madie's room.  She had very cute little girls' room, but it was time to put away some of the princess and transition into something that she'd like to hang out in.  It started with a desk, and then we just went from there.  She wanted polka dots and peace signs, so this is what we came up with.  Let me know what you think!

Her bed, full of polka dots, and her wall covered in peace signs!

I made this wall hanging by taking a photo of Madie's hand and editing it using

1.  Turned it black and white first
2.  Then sprayed colors in the background on picnik, so her peace sign showed up really well
3.  Added the word "Peace"
4.  Enlarged the photo by 400% and printed it on my printer
5.  Purchased inexpensive clear plastic frames that are almost like a box at Michaels
6.  Since the photos were on an 8.5 x 11 sheet of paper and the frames were 11 x 14, I put cute scrapbook paper behind the hand in the frame.
7.  Hung on the wall with just a little space between the frames

This is her side wall.  I LOVED these photos from last summer, so decided to blow them up to 11 x 14 and frame them.  First, I turned them black and white and edited some using

The peace signs and polka dots are wall stickers that I purchased at Target.  I used them above her bed too!

We are still working on this side of her room.  That is her new desk.  I need to paint and cover the seat of her chair still.  I did make the bulletin board on the wall.  I used fabric to cover half of the cork board and then used ribbon, patches and feathers to decorate it.  Fun for my girly-girl!!

Still a work in progress, but way closer to finishing than we were before!  Now, Jack is trying to come up with a theme for his room.  So far, it's between Mario Bros and Super Heroes...hmmmm... wonder what we'll come up with for him!?

Thanks for visiting :0) is now closed, but I've been using and LOVIN' it!
